The story behind Afroluxe

It started in the summer of 2020, when I found out how hard our region was on afro-cosmetics products. Because I need these products regularly, especially for myself and my children, it was an annoyance to me that I could not just buy them myself. I started my market research and had posted a message in a Facebook group of Kampen asking if an afro-cosmetics store would run here at all. Within a few hours, I had over 200 responses and my inbox was flooded with messages from enthusiastic people. It was a hole in the market! From that moment on, I have committed 1000% to start this business. Because I myself have been blessed with a huge bunch of curls, I have immersed myself immensely in my hair type in recent years. This has not always been the case. I stole my hair extremely much from my 11th to my 17th because I did not like my curls. 10 years ago I finally did a Big-Chop and I started all over again. Since then, I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos, tried a lot of different products, and learned ways to keep my hair healthy and grow faster. I never stopped doing this, I always wanted to stay up to date on the latest methods and products. As a result, I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge. I can now share this knowledge to help and inform my clients well. Years ago, I never expected to start a cosmetics store. What I did know was that I would ever start something for myself. I was always on hand for an everyday job. I often changed jobs and was always unhappy as an employee. After completing various trainings and I was the most satisfied job, I decided to go for my passion. And that’s the best choice I’ve ever made! Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day. I now hope with my passion to be able to make a lot of people happy! – Naomi Leming
